The Ruthless Mongol of Kuruluş Osman: Who is the Most Brutal?

In the epic Turkish series Kuruluş Osman, Mongol commanders have often been portrayed as some of the most dangerous foes Osman Bey has faced. Among them, one figure stands out for his cunning strategies, brutality, and relentless pursuit of dominance: Balgay, the notorious Mongol commander from Season 1.

Who is Balgay?

Balgay is a fictionalized representation of the Mongol threat during the time of Osman Bey‘s rise. Known for his loyalty to the Ilkhanate and his commander Geyhatu, Balgay terrorized the Turkish tribes with his ruthless methods. His character is infamous for his insatiable thirst for power and his ability to manipulate others to achieve his goals.

He first appeared in Söğüt, disguised as a benevolent figure, but quickly revealed his true nature by massacring innocent civilians. This act established him as one of the most brutal antagonists in the series, setting the stage for his ongoing conflict with Osman Bey.

Why is Balgay the Most Brutal?

  1. Unrelenting Violence:
Balgay showed no mercy to his enemies. He burned villages, slaughtered innocents, and even punished Osman’s closest allies, Gunduz and Dundar, in his quest for supremacy.
  2. Manipulation and Betrayal:
He allied with figures like Dundar Bey and Alishar Bey, only to betray them when it suited his ambitions. His ultimate goal was to overthrow Geyhatu and claim leadership of the Mongols.
  3. Family Tragedy:
Balgay forced his adopted son, Göktuğ, to kill his brother Konur Alp, adding a personal and emotional layer to his cruelty.

Osman Bey’s Fierce Rivalry with Balgay

Osman Bey’s encounters with Balgay were marked by intense battles and psychological warfare. Balgay captured Osman multiple times, coming close to executing him, but Osman always managed to turn the tables.

The ultimate showdown saw Osman setting a trap to eliminate Balgay, marking the end of one of the most feared Mongols in the series. However, the legacy of his actions continued to haunt the Turkish tribes and shaped future challenges for Osman.
