Engin Altan Düzyatan Shares Shocking Fraud Incident at Film Premiere
Renowned actor Engin Altan Düzyatan, best known for his role in Diriliş: Ertuğrul, recently opened up about a fraud incident he experienced during an interview at the premiere of his latest film, Dünya Varmış. While discussing the movie, Düzyatan revealed how he was deceived into donating money to scammers posing as officials from Aydın Municipality.
Believing It Was a Call From Aydın Municipality
Düzyatan revealed that he was deceived into purchasing wheelchairs, believing he was helping Aydın Municipality. “I thought I was speaking with someone from Aydın Municipality. They asked for two wheelchairs, but I decided to donate four instead and transferred the money to the bank account they provided,” he said.
‘This Can’t Be Real…’
Engin Altan recounted the incident:
“One day, while I was with my wife Neslişah, I received a call. A man with a very serious tone introduced himself as the secretary of Aydın Municipality. He said, ‘Mr. Engin, we know you are a compassionate person. We’ve purchased 38 wheelchairs, and only two are left. Our mayor is kindly asking if you could help with the remaining two.’
“Then they transferred me to another person who claimed to be the mayor. He thanked me and we had a conversation. I said, ‘Of course, let me buy three or four instead.’ I transferred the money and thought I was helping.”
‘I Get Scammed Easily’
Despite his good intentions, Düzyatan soon realized he had been scammed. “My wife, Neslişah, kept saying, ‘This can’t be real,’ but I was convinced I was speaking with the mayor. After I transferred the money, the callers disappeared,” he added.
With a smile, he jokingly admitted: “I get scammed easily.”
A Lesson in Trust and Vigilance
Engin Altan Düzyatan’s story is a reminder to stay cautious, even in the most well-intentioned situations. Despite being a victim of fraud, his willingness to help others showcases his compassionate nature.
